Is the Cryorig H5 Universal a good enough cooler for OCing a 7700k?

Hello,

I plan on getting a i7-7700k for my new build and plan to OC it to around 4,7-4,8 GHz.
Will a H5 Universal be enough to handle that or should I pick another cooler? Max cooler height is 160mm and I don´t really wanna pick an AIO cooler.

At 4.7-4.8 GHz, yes absolutely. There is also Noctua NH-D15S that sits at 160mm height and undisputably the best air cooler at that high, comparable to Cryorig's own R1. If you want the 5.0Ghz in air, Noctua is the way.

Another question: Noctunas homepage lists the height as 160mm but the store I´m tryna get it from lists it as 165mm. PCPP also says 165mm.

Would you rather trust the shop or Noctuna? I don´t wanna spend the money just to find out that it doesn´t fit in my case.

Also: Would you recommend getting the second fan for the cooler? It seems that it won´t increase the height but still increase the performance.

Yes, the NH-D15S is better than H5, it's also more expensive obviously. NH-D15S is 160mm high, NH-D15 (non S) is 165mm high and this is where some sites incorrectly list the wrong height.

Ahh I see, that calms me down a bit. After looking at the height in different shops some list it correctly as 160mm and some incorrectly as 165mm. Guess someone was lazy

One last question since you can add another 120mm fan to the cooler for increased performance: Does it have to be a Noctuna one or will any 120mm fan fit? Noctuna is super expenisve

Any fan fits but just the one fan is enough.
