So recently I bought a gtx 1050 ti and then my dad and I installed it in our computer. When we turned on the PC, it said first step was turn off PC, then put a sort of cable in the back of your computer, and then turn on PC. It didn't tell me anything because it was in Chinese or something. When I looked for a cable to fit the thing in the back, I couldn't find anything big enough for it. Do I have to go buy it or is there another solution for this without having to buy the cable? (I think the cable is DVI-D)

Edit : My graphics card doesn't have those 6/8 plugs things

Solution

get a dvi-d cable and hook up the monitor to the 1050 ti that...
Yes if its a DVI-D you will need some kind of cable to connect from the graphics card to the display - how else would you get an output on the screen?

Are you using HDMI at the moment? If so, that should work fine, just connect it to the HDMI port at the back of the GRAPHICS CARD NOT THE MOTHERBOARD for it to work correctly.

I'm not sure what you are talking about.
But it seems like you are referring to a video cable. You need to plug a video cable into the GPU then into whatever display you are using. You can use DVI, DP, or HDMI. If you are trying to plug a VGA cable into it that won't work as there is no VGA connection on that card.

does your monitor have hdmi or dvi??
if yes, get a hdmi or dvi cable and hook the monitor directly to the card

if not:

then you need an active ( powered ) adapter

either hdmi > VGA

or dvi > vga

My monitor has vga and dvi-d. Also, If I get the dvi-d to dvi-d, do I need to take out my VGA?
