So i bought a new psu a week ago and it's overheating a bit, its top mounted and fan pointing down. The technician said its sucking up the hot air so if i place a rear fan(which is right below the psu) will the overheating issue go away?

Adding rear exhaust fan will reduce the hot air entering your PSU and keeps it from overheating.

Though, to solve your PSU overheating problem, replace your top mounted PSU PC case with bottom mounted PSU PC case. With this, your PSU has it's own airflow setup, independent from the rest of the case. With bottom mounted PSU PC cases (e.g Corsair 100R), there's no worries your PSU can overheat.

Short answer: Maybe.

Long answer:
That depends on a fan and RPM which the exhaust fan spins.
For example, Corsair AF120 fan spinning at 1100 RPM has such a poor performance that it may not exhaust enough hot air to make a difference. But if you'd add an epic fan like Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-3000 PWM, which spins at 3000 RPM and moves a ton of air, the difference is both seen and heard.
