Solution
It is not uncommon for this series of Seagate drive to fail. Based on what you are describing, spins up, clicks and then spins down, it suggests that the drive has head/media damage. If you value the data at all, it is best to seek professional data recovery services before further damage is caused to your data.

A few professional and affordable data recovery labs I recommend are as follows:

Recovery Force
Data Medics
Data Savers
PC Image
Data Busters

We are sorry to hear you're experiencing some trouble with your drive. Definitely don't try doing much with the drive yourself if it's making any sort of clicking noise, as when this happens, every time the drive is powered on could further put any recoverable data at risk. If the drive is not clicking, you can utilize our free diagnostic tool SeaTools to check the drive for errors. In addition to the suggested recovery options provided by Dr. Luke, you could also consider Seagate Recovery Services. If you'd like to see if the drive may be under warranty, you can access our warranty validation tool here.
