Buy from different sites or one store?

So I just got off the phone with a salesman at a local computer shop about a build I plan on buying which on pcpartspicker costs 2091$, in total he said my computer would come to 2200$ without tax and with tax 2400$, now the main thing I am worried about is returning a product if it is faulty. Would I have to pay shipping? And the second slightly less important part is on whether it is worth it to buy from a local store instead of from multiple other websites (quick arrival doesn't matter much) or if I should get the build from only 1 place instead. What is your opinion and experience with this?

If you don't want to build yaself and hes willing to do it for $100, jump at it.

Advantages of letting him buy the stuff ... full warranty, you deal with him for any problems ... disadvantage, you pay tax on all the parts

Advantages of you buying the stuff, no tax on parts in all likelihood ... ... disadvantage, labor warranty only, any failed parts, you have to deal with returns.

All from one or different makes little difference.
Shipping? It depends. Amazon Prime = free shipping, mostly.

2 main things:
1. Buy everything within the same 30 day span. Easier for build/test and then return if something is DOA.
2. What is your complete parts list? There may be modifications people out here would suggest, vs the guy at the computer store.

I've built many systems on my own because i like being able to control the parts i get and you can't do that much if you get it built at a store. when i buy parts i always like to get the best price but i like keeping all the parts bought from at max 2 websites. last one i built i subscribed to newegg's premier service to take advantage of free shipping and returns

Good, went with a higher power PSU on his suggestion that power supplies lose potential after some time and could ruin my computer if that happened

Yeah I guess I'll do something similar, I have prime rn, and this computer shop sells the i7 7700k for 434$ ( pretty good in Canada)

i haven't checked the CPU prices on neweeg lately but unlike prime you could sign up for 3 months on premier for $24.99CDN
