I have an old MSI GE72 2QC Apache with a 1 TB hard Drive disk (Hybrid) and have upgraded to a desktop recently. I still want to use the Laptop for laptop stuff, but want a SSD. I have used about 500 GBs of data. I plan on doing a fresh install of windows, and will have less stuff downloaded, however, I think I need at least a 500 Gb ssd. My laptop has an available M.2 slot but is too old to support Intel Optain. I don't think I need something state of the art such as an 850 EVO.
EDIT: if some HDD would be better for the money let e know, as I have found out that there is a 2.5" 1tb Wester Digital Black Drive out there.

Also, if anyone knows about a battery extension for this laptop, that would be great as it has a pathetic hour and a half battery.

Thanks for any and all help

Just one last thing, say I get a 60-120 gb m.2, and used that for is, but installed a newer (WD Black for ex.) HDD? Would you recommend that, because according to my calculations, I get all of that for about $120.
