Should I upgrade to i7 7700k? I have i7 4790K and I was wondering if 7700k would make noticeable difference in gaming performance? Would I get any noticeable difference with the new motherboard and 7700k/ddr4 ram in gaming?
Rest of my build has GTX 1080, 16GB 2400mhz ddr3 ram and 1.5TB SSD (Cpu cooler is NZXT X61 280mm AIO cooler)
I can sell my Mobo, cpu, and ram combo for ~ $300-350 and 7700k/z270mobo and ram will cost me around $600-650, so is it worth the upgrade?

Thank you!

No need, it's not worth it. Your current i7-4790K is a powerful CPU. It'll last you for years to come without changing platforms. No significant difference in gaming. Not worth the hassle to sell your current parts, put down some more money, for very minimal gains.

Considering that Intel will have 6-core processors joining AMD in the consumer space soon, I would probably hold off to see what those have to offer. A 7700k shouldn't be very much faster than what you already have.

And are you on a high refresh-rate screen? If you only have a 60Hz monitor, it probably wouldn't make any notable difference.

You're right, the difference is minimal. I saw one video made by Digitalfaundry which had 10-20% difference but it's a little weird since all the other tests show a minimal difference in gaming.
