I'm buying a new hp laptop. I was pretty much fixed on buying HP au620tx. The store salesmen offered a similar laptop, saying it has all the same features except the Radeon 520 graphic card. Price is 3k INR less that Nvidia GeForce model.

I tried to look how well does it compare with Nvidia GeForce 940m, but I could not get any comparison. I search for Radeon 520, and get either Intel 520 or GeForce 520 in search result. It sure exists, but I guess it is fairly new to be talked about. Or these two are highly different things To be compared.

Can someone please tell me how does Radeon 520 compare to Nvidia GeForce 940M?

I think GeForce is well known. Here's the link for the other one.

Okay, I must correct my previous post. I haad read that the Radeon 520 would deliver performance at the level of a R7 M445, but that most apparently isn't the case, since a Radeon 530 doesn't even reach it.

So yes, go for the 940M
The 940M is likely much better, at least for gaming, since the Radeon 520 is apparently for just basic graphics needs. They didn't have any benchmarks for it yet on Notebookcheck, but they did have them for the somewhat faster Radeon 530, and even that was beat by the 940M by a fair amount...

Even the 940M could be considered a bit low-end for gaming, but can apparently manage "playable" framerates in most modern games at 720p with lowered settings.
