Micro-Stuttering In Certain Games with GTX 1050Ti

I have a Lenovo Legion y520 with 1050ti, and in certain games stuttering occurs. It stutters often barely a minute into starting up the game, so I don't think it's an overheating issue? Tried Paging File Size, power options, nvidia control panel. So i think there are certain possibilities. Could it be my 5400rpm hard drive is too slow? Or the extra 8 gb RAM added which is a different brand
Games with stutter: Dota 2, Path of Exile, Diablo 3
Games without stutter: Dying Light, Doom, Warframe

I assume you are gaming when plugged in and using the discrete graphics.

Check the proper operation of your ram with memtest86+
You should complete a full pass with NO errors.
I doubt that ram is the issue.

Possibly your stuttering is because you picked the slower GTX1050ti option instead of the GTX1060 option.
Nothing you can do about that.

Laptop 5400 rpm drives are built to conserve battery life, not for performance.
They are s.l.o.w.

One thing I would certainly do is to change to a SSD. Buy a Samsung 850 EVO of sufficient capacity to hold what you are now using on your hard drive.
Use the free Samsung ssd migration aid to move your C drive to the ssd.
You can keep your hard drive for storing large files and backups.
Everything you do on the ssd will be quicker.
One possible benefit is that checkpoints and texture loads will be much faster from the ssd.

For the games he plays the 1050ti is more than eneough and 1060 would of been overkill and isnt the cause of stuttering. He doesnt need a Samsung evo SSD if they have cheaper SSD's out there. He can you use Macrium reflect for free to migrate his OS over https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

You are right I already did memtest86+ and found no errors. It shouldnt be the graphics card though because average fps is high and the stuttering happens only once every minute. I already have a 128gb ssd, and Windows 10 is installed there. Can I replace my 1Tb hard drive with another ssd?

For Dota 2 I shifted its location to my ssd and it now runs well, before that there were 1 second freezes. For Path of Exile I also shifted it to my ssd, but there are still stutters which I think could be poor optimization on the part of the developers. I will try to make some space on my ssd to shift diablo 3 to it and then post an update. One thing I'm puzzled about is how Warframe, Doom and Dying Light can run on my 1tb hard drive without stuttering.

You can also buy a extrenal SSD . they make a connector that allows for usb support

Man I don't know if getting an ssd to replace the hdd is the solution. Games like Dying Light, Doom, Warframe and Lawbreakers play smoothly while installed on the 5400rpm HDD, while games like diablo 3 and path of exile shows improvement when shifted to the ssd, but does not totally eliminate the stuttering issue. I know the HDD is slow, and is causing bottlenecks. But could it be that the latter 2 games load objects and assets while you are playing and therefore the HDD can't keep up?
