Had this problem for a while now and the only way is to install an os again and it says all my files in ld:C will be erased. But I have some important documents and pictures in it and stupidly enough I dont have any back ups for those files. Is there any way to save me from this predicament? If none then my wife will kill me.

try making this on another PC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/
copy everything off PC you have to save and then fresh install Win 8 onto PC again
