Bought the following components:

Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming (rev. 1.0)
AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200)

Hooked everything up and computer WILL power up, just not display on monitor.
RAM is in the correct 1 and 2 slots and seated well.
All power connections are good.

I used the stock thermal material on the heat sink right out of the box. Should i have removed it and then reapplied something better like Arctic paste? Seem to me that is the only potential issue.

Thanks

If you're looking at the 1030, then you'll need a "passive" adapter (because they're both digital signals, no conversion of the signal required - just the physical interface).
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Gefen-HDMI-Cable-Male-Male-CAB-DVI2HDMI-06MM/dp/B0002CZHN6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501608362&sr=8-1&keywords=dvd+to+hdmi

For the 1050, I'd look to DisplayPort to HDMI
You could use an adapter, then use a HDMI-HDMI cable: https://www.amazon.com/Anbear-Displayport-DisplayPort-Desktops-Displays/dp/B01AXI8M7Q/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501608450&sr=1-4&keywords=displayport+to+hdmi

Or a straight DP to HDMI cable in one...

What are you using for your display output? (ie GPU).

There's no onboard GPU in Ryzen chips (the HDMI etc is on the board for the upcoming APUs).

What are the balance of your spec? Without knowing which GPU etc (and PSU) you're using, it's tough to give you much of a recommendation. The stock vs AS paste is only potentially a degree or two difference, it's not the difference between post/no post.

Take a look through here, just to make sure you haven;t overlooked anything:

Thanks I guess that is the problem. I am not using a GPU. I thought the CPU i bought had one. Can you recommend a budget GPU that i could use for a dual monitor setup with either two HDMIs or 1 HDMI / 1 VGA port? I am not really doing any gaming. Thanks again.

I'm guessing that's the issue. He didn't know there wasn't any onboard video.

I all you're looking for is a display out, not gaming etc - almost any GPU *could* work for you.

The modern 10 (nVidia) series or RX (AMD) do not support VGA natively and you'd need a converter, so I'd aim to utilize HDMI on both monitors if you can.

For a simple display output, the GT 1030 would do the job just fine. Fundamentally, that's exactly what it's for - and it would allow you to "game" (very loose use of the term) on low settings for most titles.

Video Card: MSI - GeForce GT 1030 2GB AERO ITX OC Video Card ($68.98 @ Newegg)

You could go older/cheaper than that (to something like a GT 730), but for the small amount you save, you'll run into lesser driver support quicker.

If you wanted to keep "gaming" options open a little, a GTX 1050 is ~$100, and much more capable than a 1030.

But for simply display-out, a GT 1030 would be more than sufficient.

I am also having the same issue. Ryzen 5 1600 w/ Ab350 Gaming 3 board. Also have a GTX 1060 installed. Lights, fans all power up. Error LEDs in the bottom right of the board are all off indicating no issues with the GPU, CPU, DRAM, or BOOT. I am using a Raidmax Scorpio RX-535AP as my PSU. I have tried both the HDMI on the board and the HDMI port on the 1060 with no luck. Monitor powers for a moment and then goes dark.
