Sorry in advance for the long explanation and it being a bit whinge.

I bought a brand new HP Pavilion i7. I realised I could not run dual monitors (that I had bought at the same time for this very purpose) on it with the standard graphics card it had come with.

So I have bought a MSI AMD Radeon RX 460 4 GB Graphics Card, together with EVGA 450 B1, 80+ BRONZE 450W PSU in order to power it. Happy days I am thinking, time to start working on my ‘projects‘!

Now the graphics card has 1 of each DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort, while the 2 Samsung monitors (SAMSUNG S24F356 Full HD 24" LED Monitor)
I was sold have only Inputs: HDMI & VGA. Do I need to change these monitors?

This is taking way longer than I anticipated but I am learning as I go which is kind of fun in itself although I would like to get working soon.

Any help on this matter would be greatly received.

Solution
You can get a DVI to HDMI cable cheap and easy.

With DVI-HDMI there is no "conversion" process, it is just a matter of pin 12 in DVI connector going to say pin 7 of HDMI sort of thing
With DisplayPort to HDMI there is a conversion process as the data message is not the same. Most GPUs have the ability to do this conversion but not all, but it is still extra work that has to be done.

Bottom line DVI-HDMI cable is the most hassle-free way to go.

The easiest thing to do is get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. So, one monitor, use a normal HDMI cable to go right from the video card to the monitor, and the other, use the adapter to allow you to connect from your DisplayPort output on the card to the HDMI input on the monitor.

The HP Pavilion i7 is a laptop with a single vga output.
So far as I know, this output only mirrors what the laptop screen is showing.

I have no idea how you hope to use a discrete pcie based graphics card and a atx psu to get another monitor attached.

You could possibly find a usb attached display adapter that could do it at low refresh rates.

Ok, firstly my apologies to start with. It is a desktop!!!

Secondly many thanks for your help. Funny that I can get a DVI-HDMI cable as a solution; Currys, PC World said " I ding even think they make that lead". So that's my go to. Thanks very much.

Wow, it is mind boggling how little the people know who work at electronics stores who are "helping customers"
Then again you are not supposed to sell the customer a $10-15 cable, you are supposed to sell them a new $200 monitor with display port built in (and a "premium" $50 display port cable).
