It's probably because your motherboard supports hot-swapping of your hard drives. There is usually a setting in the BIOS to leave the SATA port enabled, but turn off the hot-swapping option.

The motherboard is a Sabertooth x58 board , I've never seen any mention to hot swapping in bios .
I will look for that and let you know what I find .
