So i have a core 2 duo e7500 with stock intel cooler running at stock speeds. I was bored recently so i took off the heatsink and took out the cpu just for fun. And then when i put everything back in, my idle temps are around 45-50 degrees. Then i ran prime95 and my temps jumped all the way too around 97 degrees which is very hot! Before i messed around with the fan and heatsink my temps on idle were around 30 degrees and 60 on load. Is there anyway to fix this? And should i buy new thermal paste and apply it?
