Turbo Core question

I'm planning to upgrade to a Phenom ii x4 960T. I heard about it's turbo core feature. Does turbo core automatically activate when it needs more performance or do you manually have to activate it. Thank you for your help.

intel and amd turbo cores are on if set on in the bios. the turbo feature for both is when there temp and voltage room the cpu can overclock itself. that why with new cpu they list the base and turbo speeds. the turbo speeds are up to how cool you can run your cpu.
