Hey, everyone. So, I built a PC with
Core i5 7600k
Gigabyte z270 gaming 3
Corsair vengeance lpx 16 gb x 1 ddr4 @ 3000 mhz
Corsair vs550 psu
No gpu just yet. Running it with the display port on the motherboard
At first, I thought I'd just use my old hdd with a win 7 install. But it doesn't go past the windows logo. It crashes back to bios with a split second bsod. Automatic repair fails everytime.
I thought the hdd had gone bad and plugged in a new Seagate firecuda sshd for a fresh install. Now my win 7 dvd is not being recognized. The dvd drive shows up in the bios menus but it doesn't read the disc. With the disc in the tray, the PC gets stuck at the mb logo screen. If I take the disc out, it proceeds to the "insert bootable media..." screen. When I put the disc back in and press a key, nothing happens. It gives the same message again.
My disc is good. The dvd drive should be good. I mean I haven't used it in a couple of years and it was working fine the last time I used it.
I know there's problems installing win 7 through usb on these newer boards. So , I didn't even try that. But installing through sata dvd drive should work, right?
Now I'm thinking its probably some bios setting thingamajig that I'm not aware of. Or is it some hardware conflict?
Please help.
