Can fractal design - define mini c fit atx mobo ? I currenty have matx mobo but it looks like i still have a lot of space left

No it only fits upto matx
It is bigger than some standard matx cases because it has an extra io slot on the back to support a GPU on the bottom slot of a matx board (most matx cases only have 4 slots)
It also has an extra 2 inch or so of height to facilitate cooling of bottom mounted GPU.
It will absolutely not fit a full atx board though.
