Hello, I will try and make this as straight to the point as I can.
I recently sold my PS4 because I want to build a computer to be played on a 4k tv exclusively. I'm a lazy guy and prefer to game via my couch. I have a $5,000 budget for a tv, pc, and monitor if one is required. I would like to play at max settings.
What do I need to know before I plunge into this, because I rather not screw up and by a tv that wont work/connect with a pc/monitor vice a versa ?

-Thank you kindly.

Actually you are pretty fine, the only thing you'll need to know besides a very very good computer for gaming at 4K, you'll need a TV that supports 4K resolution obviously and a HDMI 2.0 cable to extend your PCs screen with your TV and vice versa.. nothing else, also for Coach gaming you'll need a Console pad like a DualShock 4 or Xbox 360 / One controller, if you are going to play Steam games which I think you'll end mostly doing it... you can use Steams BigPicture mode which is a console kind of plataform steam created exclusively for people who enjoy playing games as if they were played on a console instead of Keyboard and Mouse..

So are you saying that no matter what pc monitor I get it wont be an issue at all even if the tv is 120 hz and the monitor is 60 hz?

The only problem you'll face in case you'll have a 60hz monitor is that your monitor will be limited pushing only 60 fps, above that and without V-Sync On you'll experience lots of Screen Tearing since your monitor won't be able to handle frames above 60 fps... as for your TV you'll be just fine as long as you play on your TV you can play any games without V-Sync and you won't notice any Screen Tearing, since your TV will be able to push more than 60 fps on screen, I do that myself.. so basically if you ever come to play some games on your Monitor cause you are lazy to turn on the TV and playing on Coach.. then you'll probably need to enable VSync in some games otherwise you'll experience some screen tearing..
