Do I Need to care about my PSU when upgrading my GPU

The GPU that I chose is Asus Pheonix GTX 1050 2gb it doesn't require any 6pin power but tech says it requires 300watts of power my PSU is a cheap one but everyone says that this GPU draws power from the motherboard . So Do I really need to care about the PSU.

Yes I would still recommend having a good quality power supply, of the recommended wattage.
