Intel i5 3570k processor compatible with 2400hrz memory? Other Questions Within!

I'm not concerned over price and worth it for speed difference i know its not. My buddy bought this set of RAM and didn't realize he needed DDR4. Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz C11 Memory Kit.

#1 I only have 8gb of RAM @ 1600 and would like to upgrade to 16 for twitch streaming, he is willing to sell the set to me for next to nothing, but i want to make sure its compatible with my CPU before purchasing. Specs of the RAM are below

Density: 16GB (2x8GB)
Speed: 2400MHz
Tested Latency: 11-13-13-31
Voltage: 1.65V
Format: DIMM

#2 Also the processor is still at 3.4GHZ never touched it OC wise.. i bought this processor in 2012 and was wondering if OC'ing now would be a bad decision. (Evo 212)

#3 I'm Planning on Buying the RX Vega 56 in a few months... will this CPU bottleneck anything? if it will what upgrades can i look at to fit the same socket WO changing out the mobo.

Thanks for your help, I've scoured the inter-webs for answers to these questions for weeks and came back with nothing, and as usual i have come back to the community for some help and advice!

1.65V RAM is the same as ordinary RAM, only overclocked.
It will run at 1.5V, just a bit slower
Go into your advanced voltage settings, Set your RAM voltage to 1.55V (my 3570k has been fine at this memory voltage for years), and see how fast your memory it will go before crashing. Try 1866, then 2000, then 2133.
It is diminishing returns anyway, bet you can't tell the difference in gaming performance once you increase the memory speed beyond 2000

1. Your motherboard is going to be more relevant than the CPU as far as whether it'll support 2400MHz. If you have a Z77 board (which would allow you to OC), I'd expect it to support 2133MHz / CL9 and 2400MHz / CL10. So you might not get the full 2400MHz, but should be able to do 2133MHz (depending on the specific board, of course).

2. With a Z77 board yes, it would be a good idea to look at OCing the CPU in 2017. The 212EVO should be good for some light overclocking and, depending on the luck you get with the chip, a better cooler might be needed to get max performance out of it.

3. It's hard to say without full-blown testing. It's to "trade blows" with a 1080, and an OC'd 3570K can pair pretty nicely with a 1080...... so I'd expect you to be ok with a solid OC.

My Mobo is the GA-Z77X-UD3H so im guessing im good to go... the only thing im having issues with is tryign to figure out the best program to do the OCing on, people say the bios is easy on the particular Board but i cant seem to figure it out!

Thanks again for your input, I've just read online the the 2400mhz ram may hurt the cpu or make it slower so i'm glad you have cleared it up for me. he also has a set of used gSkull 2133mhz, that he will sell me for slightly cheaper but not by much, would it be safer to go with that option?

I hear comnflicting things when it comes to the 1.65volt ram and the i5 3570k, some people say its fine, and some say NOOO it WILL ruin your cpu.. im nervous now, i mean both of the cheap ram he has are over 1.5 volts which some people say is teh highest you can go with ram voltage on this cpu...

I'd recommend the BIOS over any "program". While certain programs can OC just fine, they have a tendancy to over-volt etc. Usually within safe thresholds, but you can generally get either a stronger OC, or the same OC at lower voltages (and thus, lower temps) than any program.

While the 1.65V is above the "recommended" 1.5V, it was talked to death here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/319559-30-memory a few years ago, take from it what you wish. I wouldn't have any issues with 1.65V Memory on Sandy or Ivy bridge.

Your board supports up to 2800MHz, so 2400MHz shouldn't be a problem on a compatible kit.

Faster RAM (especially 2400MHz vs 1600) is never likely to make things "slower", unless some ridiculous CL was required to achieve the speeds. CL11 2400MHz vs CL9 1600MHz is not going to be slower at all.

2x8GB of either 2133MHz or 2400MHz is going to be a huge improvement over either 2x4GB 1600MHz (and even moreso over 1x8GB!), so both are great options. Personally I'd take the 2400MHz since oyu have a system that can support it, and the price is pretty close.

Going to try tonight. i tried last night but was tired AF and forgot to set the correct voltage for the ram. (although i did manage to get it to 1866 before it crashed. i think voltage would be on auto, might get more speed outofe it if i increase the volts. will update tonight if i have any time

Thanks for the help here, got a water cooler and going to try the Ram OC tn.
Going to attempt the CPU overclock tn as well. managed to get it to 4.2 ld without touching the Vcore, going to go in and mess around with that (lower it a lot, think its at like 1600 of some shit, my chip only recommends 1300).

Hopefully update my status TN

Could only get the i5 to 4.4ghz after that and it required a shit ton of volts. also for ram the 16.5v 2400 (profile) only lasted 3 seconds on the prime 95 blend test, haven't had time to try it at 15.5 volts as recommended yet, going to try it tonight and see how high i can get the mhz.

the 3570k @ 4.4 vcore @ 1.285 getting max temp on IBT of 69deg. not very good for a 3570k but alot better than 3.4 so i cant complain also the chip is 6ish years old already.

with the updated ram and OC CPU im also getting 113 GFlops. is that good or shit? noob when it comes to flopping.
