Do AMD GPU's perform better over time? (compared to Nvidia)

Hello all!

I recently bought a 1080, and am considering selling it to purchase Vega when it comes out (waiting for benchmarks before making my decision).

From doing research, it seems that people online are saying that AMD GPU's tend to get much higher increased performance over the years compared to Nvidia, and can be a bit more "future proof" because of this. How valid is this claim? Is it just the Fury that received performance increases or is this pretty universally true?

Hey man thanks for replying.

Part of the reason I am thinking of switching is because I have a really nice Freesync monitor that I don't plan on swapping out for several years (1440p UW, 75 refresh).

That being said, I think it is more of a question of when, not if, I switch over to team red. If the benchmarks don't show very good performance initially, I may wait until prices drop, black friday sales, or AMD to release a newer card in 2 years time.
