I am having an issue where I have just changed the thermal paste between my cpu and its heatsink and now I have no picture it was working fine before but now I just get no signal I've tried using the internal graphics and my gpu all to avail
Specs
Mobo MSI e21
Cpu Intel I5 stock clock and cooler
Gpu Nvidia gt 1030
Ram 4GB ddr3
I don't know a whole heap about the computers history because I was an office pc but what I do know is that it was working fine but now it isn't
I changed the thermal paste because I had taken it apart to clean all of the dust out of it and put it back together there are no bent pins on the cpu all of the ram and the gpu is seated fine the hhd is plugged in and makes noise when the PC powers on but otherwise I haven't the foggiest of ideas what is wrong

Solution
Try removing the heatsink and checking if something happened with the thermal paste. One of the parts could have had esd. Can you find the ez debug led (look at your motherboard it should be located around the sides possibly near the corners or 24 pin power socket)on your motherboard and check if anything is lighting up there. If looking for it on the motherboard doesnt woek try looking at your motherboard's manual or an annotated diagram

Is it no signal at all, or signal but with a completely black screen?

If so you may have knocked a connection, the CPU may have potentially become unseated correctly.

Did you do the work whilst wearing nice clothes or on a carpet for example? It could also be possible that you've encountered static discharge to your motherboard.
