Hello

I have recently set up a PC with the following config
ASUS Z270F, Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz, M.2 Samsung 960 EVO 256GB, MSI GTX 1060 plus 6 GB, Thermaltake Riing 360 AIO, G Skill 3000 Mhz 8 GB x 2
I have checked many forums but I still cant find a solution, my RAM is defaulted at 2166 Mhz
When I try manually change it to 3000 Mhz it wont POST
Even if i load XMP it wont POST
Is there a way I have to manually adjust setting in BIOS to enjoy the advertised speed or I give up and accept 2166 Mhz
Tried to contact ASUS but no reply yet

Thank You

you should change the timing, check some guides on the internet, because i dont really know detailed guide about timing. once you change it to correct timing it should run properly

Not exactly
Just tried to manually adjust the speed from auto to 3000 Mhz
Where else would i need to make changes?
Should loading XMP adjust everything else?

Thanks Vinvent
I checked the next but could not find a proper guide on how to change the timing or voltage
there are a few guides but the issue is all the mobo bios settings are different and I do not want to try something I am not sure of unless someone can guide me step by step :-(

First thing to do is make sure you have the latest BIOS for the board.

If that doesn't allow you to just enable XMP and have it work then you may have to manually configure it.

I'd bet it's on the BIOS it shipped with. Most of the Skylake and Kaby Lake BIOS updates have addressed RAM compatibility. That is a good guide if you need it.

It was shipped with 0701 version and I updated it to 0901
BIOS and drivers have been updated to all the latest available

Huh. What RAM kit is it? GSkill is usually problem free.

You could have a bad stick. The guide posted above is quite good. Follow the directions and see if it will work. If it still won't POST I'd run memtest on it for 8 to 10 hours ( overnight ) and see if there are any errors.
