So even though I passed my Computer Tech class in college there are still some things I was never shown and never learned throughout my time there. One in question is overclocking, I have overclocked a very little about a year ago. I had an AMD processor and overclocked it from 3.8ghz to 4.2ghz in the Bios settings. Now my current motherboard (Intel DQ35JOE) doesn't have a option for it because the motherboard does not support overclocking or something along those lines. But my processor that I am getting today (after a long awaited 6 days) can be overclocked (not sure by how much). It's a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83ghz processor. I'll leave my specs below just in-case anyone needs them, it'll speed up the response process. My question is, how do I overclock the Q9550 when my motherboard doesn't have an option? I have MSI Afterburner but that doesn't seem to be doing a thing for my GPU and RAM right now. I have it set at +65 Core Clock and +120 Memory Clock, this has actually decreased my score and minimum FPS in Valley Benchmark so I doubt I will keep it this way. I have been monitoring the temps for the GPU, HDD, CPU, and Motherboard itself. All run below 60c, my CPU use to run 80c but I bought a new aftermarket LED CPU Cooler and it is doing the job VERY well and looking extremely cool while doing it.
SPECS:
OS - Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit SP1
HDD - 1TB Western Digital WDC (currently running 35c)
MotherBoard - Intel DQ35JOE (J1PR)
RAM - 8GB DDR2 398Mhz (6-6-6-18)
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00ghz (remember I'm replacing, running 39c)
GPU - PNY Nvidia GT 1030 2GB (currently running 30c)
PSU - Insignia 400w
If there's any confusion about the "30c/35c" text, it means 30 degrees Celsius.
