AMD Ryzen 5 1600x or Intel i5 7600K for Video editing workstation?

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to build a new PC for my workstations. Mainly I'll use Adobe After Effects, Blender, Sony Vegas Pro.

Which CPU is better for workstation?
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
AMD Ryzen 5 1600x
Intel i5 7600k

I also need some suggestion on choosing RAM, GPU and Motherboard.
I like Gigabyte GTX 1070 xtreme gaming GPU.

Hi safi513, I would go the Ryzen 5 1600 route simply because it would be better for production work that you are looking to do. As for Motherboards, I hear the Gigabyte/AsRock motherboards are doing very well in terms of compatibility with RAM which have been causing a few problems...a good choice to go with the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Extreme would be this motherboard which is very cost effective GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming 3. As to RAM, all I know is that the Ram with samsung B-Die chips are the best, so look for those with a bit of research.

By the way, no fanboy here...I use an Intel system 6700K@4.4Ghz and love it for my gaming with some light productvity..you tube video encoding etc.

I'd choose the R5-1600/1600X over any i5 rig even for gaming, as well as production/editing; the 4c/4t design is occasionally causing some i5 owners to get some stutter/framerate drop in newer games...

Editing/rendering, it's just no contest, R5 wins, ...every time.

 
@mdd1963 no point in trying to suggest stuttering on the i5-7600 because that is just not the case. The i5 7600 is better at gaming across the majority of titles regardless of whether it is a marginal or a big victory and that is a fact. I have the i7-6700k and my brother has an i5-7600. Never has he had stuttering in games playing any game at max on a 1080p monitor and he has the Palit 1070 GTX. C'mon, you do not need to do that, especially when paired with a 1070 GTX.

As you can see, I myself suggested that safi513 get the 1600 over the i5. Overall for what he wants the 1600 is of course the best choice but do not try to muddy the water with biased and crud statistics.

Definitely 1600/1600x.. And yeah i5s definitely stutter pretty bad in cpu intensive games, can't speak for the ryzen because I've never had one but I do know it'd be better no question for the use you intend it for.

Hi safi513, The Gigabyte GTX 1070 Extreme is more than good enough as are the MSI Gaming X and the EVGA FTW..if you want to save a bit of money the Palit GameRock (should be much cheaper) and the Zotac AMP edition are also good. Also another choice that might suit you becouse of temps in your area is the MSI GTX 1070 Sea Hawk which has a AIO watercooler built in..at the moment in the UK the cheapest one is £440...
 


If budget allows, WX 7100. If not, a GTX 680 (mod it to become a K6000).

Another option is a cheap Quadro or FirePro (i.e.: P400, P600, FirePro W2100, etc.) for 10-bit and video previewing, then an expensive consumer GPU such as the 1070, 1080, upcoming Vega 56, etc. for rendering.
