Hi, does anyone know how to turn off the LEDs on the Spire cooler? Can I just break off 1 of the pins on the 4 pin connector?

Solution
After some more investigation I was able to get the LEDs off by connecting an extra cable to the fan LEDs itself. There are 2 cables for the assembly...unplugging the second leaves the LEDs on...I plugged the secondary cable into the top part of the fan and then into the MOBO LED RBG connector and set the LEDs to DISABLED in the BIOS, The only light left is the AMD symbol and I just used some black electrical tape and covered it up.

Thanks for everyones help.
I wouldn't break off one of the pins on the 4 pin connector for any reason, it would be much easier (and reversible) to just pull the LED wire out of the plastic header on the wires connected to the fan. However, there has to be some way to shut them off in the software that controls colors, I'd look pretty hard before making any hardware changes.

That is a generic response and one I have seen already...doesn't really help...there are no settings in the BIOS...there aren't any adjustments on the fans tab for LEDs. I am curious if anyone has tried breaking the fourth pin off as the case fans only have 3 pins...

I'm talking about this instead of breaking off the pin...

and I never said anything about looking for it in the BIOS, I don't know why you're being so crass about it. Did you actually check AMD's software specifically designed for controlling the LEDs? It sounds like you haven't to me, in which case why would you ask for advice and then spit in the face of the person trying to give it to you?

If your fan plugged into the RGB header? There's one specific header that it should be plugged into on the motherboard and the lights function as the ground, so you can't remove them. There's a 12V pin and then 1 pin each for Red, Green, and Blue.

I was after an answer in regards to the pins...there's 4 instead of the usual 3. My MOBO is a Biostar 370 and has a CPU 1 and CPU 2 fan socket. I have it plugged into CPU 1. The BIOS has LED options but nothing specific for the fans...only temperature settings.

I didn't realize that there is CPU software for the fan? I am not a gamer...this is a high end HTPC, which is why I want it dark. I was hoping for an easy button by just removing a pin, but it doesn't look like anyone knows.

Thanks for the links, they were helpful, sorry if you feel offended...that was not my intent.

The AMD Wraith Spire cooler has two cables: one cable controls the fan speed, and the other controls the LED. The fan cable is 4-pin because it is PWM. If you don't want LED, just unplug the second cable.
