Hey all,

So my new build is up and running but I've blown all my money but still could use a cheap mouse and keyboard. My current mouse is wireless and only works within like 2 feet cause its shot. My keyboard is from a 10 year old pc and its just nasty.

So I need to upgrade to something cheap yet respectable. Eventually I'll drop that $200 on a keyboard/mouse combo but right now I still have to save for a GPU. What can you recommend? Cool lighting is a bonus.

Also, why are most gaming mouses wired? Is it just because the response is faster for twitch based shooters?

Thank you!

For a cheap mouse, you can go with the Gigabyte M6880X. I have it on use on my Skylake and Haswell builds (full specs with pics in my sig). It comes with back/forward thumb buttons and a DPI button to change DPI on the fly,

And for cheap KB, how about Trust GXT 280? I have it on use on my Haswell build. It comes with few media keys and 3 color backlighting for some eyecandy,

As far as why most gaming mouses are wired is because wired mouse...

As far as why most gaming mouses are wired is because wired mouse has low latency and no lag. Also, with wired mouse, there are no connection interruptions. Having uninterruptible connection is important in any (competitive) gaming, not just in FPS games.

I'm still using my Microsoft optical mouse.. about 15.00
My keyboard is an older Microsoft Recluza that still performs well today..
I would think any decent name that is mechanical will be ok.

To answer your second question... yes, the wired mouse and keyboard are faster due to their connectivity.
Hope you get gaming soon!
