Sorry if this ain't a great place to place this, not sure what to do to be honest

I know that if I go to Samsung they are going to charge me hundreds of dollars to repair a outdated phone, my mother just recently offered me this note 5 from her work, the display will not turn on, on the touchscreen glass there is a cracked but it's nothing noticeable/noteworthy. I have tried a few button combos, it still charges, still turns on and beeps at me, the back and apps light lights up, the notification and charging light turns on as well, any idea guys?

Thats tough as a DIYselfer you have to purchase a screen and hope that is the issue where as taking it a tech they have parts to swap or not swap if your the note 5 is toast. Tough call. I love mine and while it isn't the best gaming phone, even when it launched...it still did a dang fine job of gaming all the same. Whether playstore or VR. I use both.

i wouldn't go to samsung as they will overcharge for it. I have that exact phone myself, it is awesome. So what I would do is find a local phone tech and take it there. It will cost you much less then directly through samsung. Though it wouldn't hurt to get a list, if they have it, of approved tech's in the area. Reagrdless it shouldn't cost much more then a 100 dollars to fix. Let say its even 200 (which would be being overcharged IMHO)...that's way cheaper then a new phone or even used one. I usually upgrade every other phone cycle...ie i am do the next note launch. I have zero plans to upgrade this cycle. The note 5 was a good deal ahead of the curve IMO. Even now it still gets decent updates (by ATT standards at least....andriod 7.0 with weekly security updates)

All of this is true, I currently have a Droid turbo and it would be a nice upgrade, my contracts up and I do need a new phone, to be honest I can (most likely) put a new lcd in it myself, I just want to make sure that's the issue first, yeah going to Samsung would be much more money than buying a display myself, but I'm looking on ebay and mostly everything I see is used displays with awful screen burn ins for $130-200
