Hi all,

I have a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H. SSD with a Samsung 830 128gb. Noticed that the boot was getting slower and slower so assumed this was the hard disk. I've put a new one in now, an 850 evo.
- Whole reinstall of OS etc. completely from scratch - all up to date.
- Latest drivers for all cards / drives etc.
- Latest BIOS confirmed - reinstalled to be sure.
- Unplugged all other devices including blueray drive

This has always been slow to boot even before the drivers and updates to the OS were installed.

I'm still getting really slow boot still from the new setup. Seems ok when in the computer but then blue screen of death after 20 mins or so when I'm doing very little. There's something very wrong here. Any ideas? I'm suspecting the motherboard.

Thanks, Tim

Solution
1) Read chapter 5 of your mobo user manual, make sure SATA is set to AHCI mode.

2) Disable that Intel Smart Response Technology stuff.

3) update BIOS to latest beta as that adds dupport for secure boot.

With the old sad hard disk there's an older hard disk with it. with the new sad hard there's nothing apart from keyboard and mouse.

Don't think it's a heat issue.

Some sata ports don't work with the older disks in. Seems fussy what is plugged in. Won't always boot in some sata plugs. Have now tried combinations of sata ports, doesn't fix it.

Hey I am doing. Just takes longer and longer to boot. Is there any way to confirm it's the motherboard before I get a new one? Don't see many 1155 boards around any more!

Thanks, Tim

Any way to diagnose the slow boot. I don't mind paying for a programme. Close to giving up.

RGD if there is no bootable drive (i.e. there's no windows 7 on it) the computer will not boot. Not sure what you're asking!
