I overclock less in MSI Afterburner than in GPU Tweak

Hi Guys,

I previously assembled my humble budget PC, and since my budget get me kind of crap things, i need to rely on overclocking gpu. My System as follows:

MoBo: Asus h110m-a-m2
cpu: i7 6700 (non k)
Ram: 16gb kingston
GPU: Palit StormX gtx 1060 3gb - single fan (Please don't curse me for getting this card, i'm poor)
cpu cooling: CM hyper 212 LED (cpu temp max at 60-65 degrees during gaming)
Case: Cheap CM masterbox (Micro ATX)
Fans: 2 intake fans in front, 1 stock chasis exhaust.
PSU: Silverstone 500W

As i am saying, i wanted to overclock so first installed the asus gpu tweak 2 to overclock my gpu, i get stable @ +200 core clock and + 700 memory clock. playing 2 hours a day average on games the temp is at max 75 degrees celcius. Then i watch youtube about overclocking and 90% of the time people recommend MSI afterburner so i gave it a shot. The max stable i get is +175 core clock and +350 (half of what i get from gpu tweak) mem clock. at playing games i get 85 degrees max (hotter for lower numbers). I did not change voltage, power limit and temp limit for both.

So i want Your expert opinion, what the hell is happening? i like the MSI because of the on screen monitoring thing so im hoping to keep it. did i do something wrong? Thanks in advanced. Cheers.

It doesnt matter which software you use to overclock your GPU, as it has no impact on overclocking success.
To test it, run a stress test (for example furmark) and check max clock speed and memory in HWmonitor, it will be indentical no matter what software u use to overclock.

Hi Makentox, thanks for the reply. I did test it using furmark and the heaven benchmarking stuff and i really get more fps and lower gpu temp with gpu tweak compared to msi since like i said earlier, i get higher overclocking numbers with gpu tweak. so as i understand it, software has an impact on overclocking success (correct and educate me if im wrong please as im new to this). i can accept the less fps using msi afterburner but i dont like the temp reaching 85 degrees Celsius. but i like the in game screen monitor of msi. and by the way, i did make a fan curve like fans are 100% once it reach 70 degrees Celsius but I still get the 85 temp. :(

Make your fans spin 100% all the time (manual mode) What max clock speed, memory frequency and temperature does it show now in furmark when using asus tweak or MSI AB? Need numbers from furmark on top left of the screen not in oc softwares themself. You could also download Heaven Benchmark and run it, compare score and average FPS.
Anyway there is no chance it will differ, most likely something u missing. Or there some sort of bug in showing data.
