I'm copying mp4 files from one folder to another on my micro sd using my Sony phone. When I take the SD out and put it in a USB adaptor into a toshiba TV, the original files show up but the copied files and new folder are invisible. If I put the usb adaptor into a computer the files are there so don't understand why they aren't recognised but the TV.

@rdg1101 the folder title is "test" so no special characters
@mjslakeridge yes if I copy them on the computer they show up on the TV. Unfortunately I want to be able to do this on the move and it would be great to be able to do it on my phone.

It must be some funky aspect of the copy function on the phone that doesn't sit well with the TV.

Edit: I'm wondering that when you "copy" the files on the phone, it isn't physically moving the file, but just creating a directory entry in the new folder "pointing" to the actual location of the file, and the TV is unable to cope with this.

Yes it's strange because the copied files are listed as the same file size as the originals (approx 20mb each). I'm not sure if the android system would create a directory file, list it as the same file size and right off that quantity of memory on the SD. Perhaps it would?

My only fix for now is a clunky workaround. I'll create multiple copies of the original folder on the SD while it's in my computer. Then I'll delete everything but the desired files in the folder. That will do until I find a way of writing mp4's so that the TV can read them. Thanks for your help though!
