Looking To Sell Motherboard But Overclocked Processor In The Past, Will Overclock Settings Still Be On There?

Hi everyone. I'm looking to sell a Gigabyte 990-FXA-UD5 motherboard with an AM3+ socket, but i'm a little cautious on selling it. I overclocked an AMD FX 8120 in it in the past, to about 4 or 4.2 Ghz, then I upgraded to an Intel 6700K afterwards with a new motherboard. I still have this old one, but was wondering when the buyer gets it, and they put in a processor, will the overclock settings apply to it? Or will it just default to it's base clock settings? Like if it's 3 Ghz base, it won't overclock to 4 or 4.2 and just stay at 3? I need to figure out how to explain it when I list it up on Ebay. Thank you.

It will error out on boot noticing a different CPU (if it is a different model) and disable the OC.
If you want to be sure the easiest thing you can do is have the old system unplugged (its fine if the motherboard is laying in a package or something) and remove the CMOS battery for a minute and reinsert it.
Did you overclock the cpu using the BIOS? Or using software like AMD Overdrive? You can restore the BIOS to default settings before selling it (assuming you still have the cpu). Software overclocks definitely will apply to only the cpu that was overclocked, and I am pretty sure BIOS overclocks will also only apply the the cpu that was installed at the time of the overclock. Someone else should be able to verify that.

I think I may just go ahead and do this. In response to mjslakeridge, i'm pretty sure that I used the bios, I used the software before, but then I just used the bios to overclock. I don't have the cpu anymore, so I just have to tinker with the CMOS battery. Thanks everyone.
