So before I saw you a picture of CrystalDiskInfo to tell me what's going on, I would like to start with something first. So I bought a WD Black 6TB like 1-2 months ago and when I scanned it for problems, it had reached maximum reallocated sectors before me even getting a file one it. So I RMAed it, got another one (the one that I have now) and has reallocated sectors again. My guess is that when your RMA they give your refurbished that is already returned for probably the same reason as mine (if they can partially fix this themselves).

Sounds like a common problem, though I'm not sure what you can do aside from contact WD again.

I tried to find customer comments but Newegg only had FIVE people so I guess it's a new drive.

AMAZON had a lot, but that's because their customer commenting system is still screwed up and has been for years. They mix SIMILAR products whether HDD's or BluRays or TV's you can't apply this to a particular product.

I'm wondering (ask WD Tech Support) if it's possible the manufacturing process has produced a drive with damaged areas on the platters, but possibly once these areas are remapped the drive might work fine?

I don't know how to tell if it's getting worse because, for example, when I look at my 4TB HDD in the same section (reallocated... ) it shows:

100 100 5 0

So "0" under the "Raw Values" heading which appears to be the indication of errors? For you it's "2". Two? What does that even mean? What would "3" mean?

That sounds to me like only TWO reallocated 512Byte sectors, so how could that be an issue? (there's about TWELVE MILLION sectors BTW). 6x1024x1024x1024/512 x.93 (approx)

Heck, ask them what that value means because it's baffling me.

Look at the Raw Values column for the five attributes highlighted in the following image from my 9 year old HDD. If two or more attributes have a raw value greater than zero then the drive is deteriorating. How quickly the raw data value increases will indicate how quickly the deterioration is occurring.
