Im building my first pc very soon. I saw ryzen and everything. Now i was wondering what CPU could i buy for pure gaming performance. I can't afford the ryzen 5 1600 or the i5-7600k
But i could afford like a i5-7500 , 7600 , Ryzen 5 1400 , 1500x.
I would use one of these CPU's for pure gaming and sometimes livestreaming on twitch.
I would play games like CS:GO , League of legends and overwatch.
What CPU should I choose for my needs?
I don't want any fanboys fighting on this thread I need some profesionals to anwser my question!!
Thank you :)

If you're willing to overclock, then go for the Ryzen 5 1400. Ryzen CPUs of similar nature tend to all overclock to the same levels. Eg. a Ryzen 7 1700 overclocks to the same level as the 1800x, Ryzen 5 1600 overclocks to the same as a 1600x. Basically, overclocking negates the out of the box experience of the CPUs.

With that in mind, I would choose the 1400, overclock it, and save a bit of money to put towards something else. I believe the 1600 is considered the best value for money CPU, but it will depend on your budget.

The general consensus seems to be the G4560 for low budget builds, a Ryzen 5 for mid-upper budget build, and i7-7700k for best current gaming performance. You've effectively ruled out the i7 because of budget restraints which should mean a Ryzen 5 is the better option.

However, i5s still have the clockspeed advantage and can still perform well. Problem is, they are starting to perform at their limits. The Ryzen 5s have the core advantage which many anticipate is where game development will head and thus be more 'future proof'; as is, they perform well enough.

But as you mention streaming, that would push the suggestion to a Ryzen 5 for me.

Aaaah, another addition to the PCMR
For pure gaming performance, Intel is still better because of it's stronger individual cores
In my opinion, your best option is an i5 7400/7500 because they provide the most bang for the buck
Ryzen is suitable if you want to dabble into video editing as well, but otherwise you don't need hyperthreading since games can't utilise more than 4 threads properly as of now
If you let me know your budget I can part out the PC as well
Cheers :)
