Hi. I'm sorry if something like this has been posted before.
My son needs a new CPU and motherboard for games like overwatch and lol etc
I have a i7 6700k. I was thinking about giving him my i7 and motherboard and then get a new one for me.
I was thinking about a Ryzen 1700 and overclocking it. I play battlefield 1, wow, wot, cod etc etc.
Would a Ryzen (any version) be a better all rounder than my 6700 or would you keep it and just buy my son a new i5 or???
I must admit I fancy a new CPU for some reason.
I'm also be buying a GTX 1080ti in a month if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any help

You won't see a noticeable benefit from moving from the Intel processor to the AMD processor... for gaming. In fact, the Intel CPU might be faster, depending on the games and screen resolution. But I know how the 'new CPU' urge can hit you. Been there.
But you are at/near the top of the food chain now when it comes to processors. And as you probably are aware, moving to Ryzen will mean a whole new build.

Yeah. The urge is there lol.
I'll give my son the i7 cpu, motherboard and memory so I'll need all that with my new one. I'm running at 2560x1080 with a gtx1080ti (in a month).
