Hello, I've just ordered a new case for the computer i'm building but have been wondering a question. My PC will be going into a slot in my desk that basically has no way for air to get in through the side panels of the case. So I'm just curious if the case i'm ordering is alright to go there? I have other places to put the PC, it would just be nicer to put it in the slot in my desk. Thanks!

The case i have is the BitFenix Nova ATX Mid Tower Case

Ah. Well then provided that in the back it's not pressed up right against the wall and the air has plenty of space to exhaust and move upwards (and not be contained by the desk), it should be ok sitting in the slot. That case has no side fans I can see.

Is the slot open in the back? If not, then I wouldn't put a computer in it.
Do you mean that when you put the computer in the slot, the side vents at the front through which air is supposed to come in are covered? In this scenario, also do not use the slot.

Yes, there is an opening in the back of the slot. The only thing covered in the slot are the sides, the front is completely open.

Yeah but the question is, because your computer is not technically drawing air from the front but from the sides of the front panel, are those sides with the cutouts covered or are they sticking out of the table slot, at its front?

Oh i see what youre talking about. No, the vents are not covered. They can peek out of the slot nicely.
