Can SSD Drives be noisy?

When my hard drive crashed, I got an SSD drive and set up Windows on it . My old hard drive is used for storage. It is a Hitachi ATA Standard Disk. Since I installed the SSD drive,my PC has been getting noisier. The sound is of a device working hard. I didn't think it was my old hard drive because I seldom access it and there should be no reason for it to be working. So could this be the SSD drive making the noise?

I'm not sure if this is the correct way to reply. If not please forgive me.
That is what I read somewhere but was not sure. I'm running Windows 7 Home. Is that normal for drives to make noise when not accessed? All my programs are on the SSD and the standard drive has pictures, documents, music, videos etc.

One thing I need to correct is that there is no housing or bracket to hold my SSD drive. It is dangling in an upright position and it has one corner resting on the old drive. I know, I know....the adapter bay has been ordered.
Thank you.

I've seen ppl use velcro strips, rubber bands, hot-glue, zip ties, Command Strips, even just sitting the ssd on top of the psu housing. It's the one component in a pc that has absolutely no need for secure mounting as realistically it's nothing more than a giant SD card.

Vibration noise in a pc is from one of 2x places. Fans or drives. They are the only components with moving parts. Sometimes AIO pumps.

That said, just because you personally are not accessing the hdd doesn't mean that Windows isn't, either with background Antivirus or system checks, temp folders, pre-cache etc.
