I need help seriously i don't know what to choose or do.

Ok so right now my motherboard is an h170 pro gaming and I have an i5 6660k. Now, is it worth it to upgrade to an i7 7770? or an i7 7770k? because my motherboard doesn't support OC. But then I have to spend like 200$ on a new motherboard and another 400$ on a new cpu. I'm thinking about upgrading to an i7 7770k. to increase FPS in games that are CPU intensive. Do you think it's worth the upgrade to an i5 6660k from an i7 7770k because I heard if you get the k version you get more clock speeds?

Most 7700K's hit 4.9 GHz, and, the 8 threads make a difference in newer titles that have many i5's suffering framerate fadeouts, stutters, etc, that don't necessarily get reflected in pure average framerates; look at 1% lows and minimums...

So far, nothing is touching 7700K in gaming, except occasionally the ludicrously priced motherboard/cpu combo w/ the 7740X....

Gaming WHILE streaming, Ryzen 1700 and up fare better in 1% lows, and mins..

The 7700K does run 500 MHz faster base clock, and 300 MHz faster Turbo speed than does the 7700, and for only $10 more, that's a good bargain, IMO....

Be sure you doublecheck and flash the mainboard's BIOS to a version that supports KabyLake CPUs *before* ditching your 6600....if not done beforehand, it won't POST.

The 7700K does require a cooler, however....many are out there fro from $40-88....

If you already have a 6600K, I kind of doubt you would see much of a performance improvement in games from moving to a 7700k. You might get 10% higher framerates in a CPU-limited title if you're not overclocking. Also, keep in mind that Intel is supposed to be launching 6-core i5 and i7 CPUs later this year that will likely require new motherboards yet again.

Funny thing, I got an h170 pro gaming motherboard it's not a z170. I would have to change that to OC. But I think i'm going to wait for a year to upgrade. Like you said they're going to release the new CPU'S soon anyways right?
