Apparent CPU issue, what's the best solution?

HI everyone!
First time builder here. As luck would have it, my computer won't POST.
I'm getting five beeps from the system speaker. I did a little research and found out my motherboard uses the AMI beep codes.
5 beeps for AMI would indicate that there is an issue with the CPU.

I've tried the following:
- Read over the "PERFORM THESE STEPS before posting about POST/boot/no video problems!" on this website.
- Specifically, I tried moving the RAM back and forth between each slot and ensuring it is well seated, numerous times,
- Made sure the CPU fan was plugged in and working
- made sure the cpu power connection was solid
- removed the CPU and inspected the paste to ensure none had leaked anywhere, also looked at the pins and none look bent. I also double checked to make sure the CPU was lined up properly.
-repeated the above process after it didn't work...

Now what? :/
My research would indicate that a defective processor is unlikely.
Should I try returning the motherboard? I just bought everything today.

system consists of:
-Intel Pentium g4560
-gigabyte H110M-1 motherboard
- a single stick of 4gb DDR4 2133 RAM
- using integrated graphics(no dedicated video card)
- 120GB Kingston solid state drive
- diablotek diamond case W/ 400w UPS.

I should mention that the mother board was an open box model...I hat to throw money at the problem, but it seems like the best solution may be to try returning it to micro center tomorrow?

Solution
The issue is that while these motherboards are 'compatible' you rely on it having the latest bios version to work with the Pentium.
A b250 board would be a safer bet full stop.

I checked the store where the MB was purchased and:
BIOS
64 Mb AMI UEFI Bios

Hmmm...what do you think the best way to solve this would be? This motherboard only cost me 32 dollars. Perhaps just go buy a different brand and make sure they have the are compatable this time?

FYI I thought it could be the power supply and wanted to get a nicer one anyhow, so this morning I swapped in an EVGA 400w UPS and it is doing the same thing. I'm hoping it is just the MB and there is nothing wrong with the processor. This is starting to turn into a lot of fun lol.:)

Only way to heck for BIOS problem is to try booting with a older, compatible CPU and than update using it. That would also confirm if MB is working or not.
That's one problem with used or NOS parts, just no way to know if everything is set as it should be. Even stores may stock so called "stale" MBs made who knows when and with obsolete BIOS. There are some test cards you stick into PCI or PCIe port but they can only tell you if it's electrically in order, not if there's wrong Bios.

Thanks, I'm having trouble deciding how to proceed. I do not have access to any other hardware to test the MB.
While I was at the store getting the PSU, I went ahead and picked up an additional Gigabyte H110M-A MB, because I suspected this specific one was defective.

Do you think I should open this one up and try it, or leave it packaged so they can resell it and try a different MB? I really don't want my inexperience here to become the retailers problem, so I want to avoid opening this one up if theres a good chance I'm going to encounter the same problem...

I notice both boxes say "/REV. 1.0" on it, which is advertised to be compatible with 6th and 7th gen processors.

SO if I am understanding this right, you think the issue is it could have sat for an extended period and is now no longer compatible?

They have it listed as a bundle with the new 7100 I3:

http://

I guess I'll open up this "closed box" version and see if it works:??:

Alright, I just hooked up the new mother board. Same problem...
I'm not looking for something better, just wondering if the BIOS thing is actually the issue, since they are both the same generation Kaby Lake processors and the website lists the I3 as being compatible, so I assume the G4560 would also be compatible with the same MB...

I'm on board with trying another motherboard. Is there any chance you can recommend one that should be compatible?
This is a budget build BTW. I am going to be running Linux and learning to program.

They will very likely be running old BIOS versions that stop the system booting with a kaby lake CPU

Its I'll advised to buy any h110 or h170 board for use with a kaby lake CPU , unless its from a small store who generally take the time & trouble to update boards themselves.

Microcentre as a chain store will certainly not have done that .

Alright! I think that did it.
I'm getting a screen that is telling me that the CMOS date/time is not set, press F1....

I went ahead and applied some new thermal paste using the " X technique. I'm going to go ahead and reassemble the case then proceed with the software install.

Thanks a lot everyone! I would have been trying to figure this out for a long time if you guys didn't point out the compatibility issue.
