My pc: intel g4400, asus h110 mobo hdd Toshiba 1tb , Ram unknown 4gb module. first thing i checked the task manager and its showing hdd and ram usage r critically high all the time and causing pc lag alot. any suggestion on ram how can the ram be in normal, load usage like before 1%-40 normally but current 80% usage. running windows 10 pro. i normally work with the browser and on office..Thanks!

Solution
1) HDD - I don't know what "all the time" means but that sounds like an anti-virus scan or something else that would usually stop after at most a few hours.

I've had Windows SEARCH index the drive. It even screwed up in Windows 7 or 8 and used too much of my CPU for some reason so I had to disable indexing (google for how if you think that's the reason but see STEP#2 first)

2) Task Manager - run and see what applications are using the most of the CPU. Google the names if they aren't obvious. If there's MALWARE for example that may be causing your issues so you can search how to remove it.

3) RAM usage - Not sure what "1%-40" is supposed to mean because I doubt it would use less than 25% on launch and probably at least 2GB (50%)...

My dad's W10 laptop (originally Vista) has 2GB of RAM and it uses 1GB on bootup. If I have 8GB or 16GB it tends to use about 3GB on bootup, and after using Chrome and running my system for a few hours (with 16GB) it uses over 6GB.

If you launch Chrome it could easily jump to 80% usage. I would REBOOT the computer to see if RAM usage drops back closer to 1GB to 2GB when you first bootup (see Task Manager-> performance-> memory)

4) I'd consider getting another, IDENTICAL 4GB module (google or try to find in pcpartpicker). The PART NUMBER should be listed under CPU-Z (download and run) under the "SPD" section.

5) You can also have high CPU and HDD usage if you fill up your system memory so that it ends up swapping data back and forth to the HDD's paging file.

Windows doesn't like to hit 100% RAM usage as it tries to leave a buffer for new tasks, so if you hit about 80% and Google Chrome wants even more that may explain the issue.

*So a good question is does this happen when Chrome isn't running?

'all the time means' ram usage is high starting up boot and there after, i use open hardware to see the usages and the temperature. and talking about the chrome its fine with the ram usages.
