Hello I'm currently looking into building a gaming desktop and I want to game at 1440p I have the build in pcpartpicker and all seems well but what I'm concern on is that on AAA titles such as the witcher bf1 tomb raider would a ryzen 5 1600 be A ok or would I need to step up the line of ryzen 7.
I do apologize if this question seem a bit confusing Just really didn't know how to word it

Currently for only gaming i7 7700k is the best cpu. It helps in high fps like above 120fps if u plan to use 144hz monitor but rysen can't provide high fps but if u do 1440p 60hz, r5 is OK with gtx 1070 or Vega 56(guess it's slightly better than the 1070)

While that was true at launch for 1080P that has become less true since plus since the OP is going for 1440P (where it was never an issue) it matters even less. Devs have been patching fast and in some cases where Ryzen was way behind at 1080P high refresh rate it now comes very close, matches or exceeds the i7 7700K. Personally I would go with a Ryzen build like the R5 1600 or better if your willing to go AMD or wait for Coffee lake to launch if dead set on Intel. While it is true at them moment an i7 7700K will win in gaming more times then not, it has issues as soon as you through game streaming into the mix or any other work load. At which point Ryzen (6C/12T) dominates Intel 4C/8T chips. And when you take the fact DX12 is finally starting to ship in a fair number of games, a larger core count chip will last much longer then a 4C/8T part (regardless of vendor). Look at games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3, The Division...all use 8+ threads. Then you get games like BF1, Watch Dogs 2, GTA V, Ghost Recon Wildlands...these games will use upwards of 16+ threads and the trend is only growing. My new recommendation for gamers is 6C/12t (amd or intel) especially if doing game streaming at which point 8C/16T is actually best. Entry level gaming is 4C/8T and bare bones gaming 4C/4T. Here some links to chew on...

Check those out and you'll see when at 1440P Ryzen and intel are very close....

And a recent one from Anandtech covering 1080P/4K with Kaby Lake, kaby lake X, Ryzen and sandy bridge chips from second gen thrown in for good measure.

All this points to Ryzen being an outstanding chip for gaming. It won't win every time in strictly gaming, but fairs very well. The higher the resolution the closer all the chips perform. And as i stated other workloads that are multi-threaded or game streaming, Ryzen destroys Intel's equivalents.

Watched few benchmark today in gamer mild showing that i7 7700k beats in every game @1440p 144hz above 140 to 170fps in AAA games while rysen 7 lags behind 140fps In most games. I don't have either cpus but as far as I researched for high fps gaming i7 still the king. He seems just a gamer than streaming or productivity so I suggested i7, which he I also mentioned there

If he is doing strictly 144hz gaming and trying to hit 144FPS at all times you have an argument, for now (I believe more patches will are coming from what I have heard from my friends in the field). Anything less then that though (ie 120hz or less) then your argument falls apart. My question to the OP then would be this. Are you looking to max game setting out or frame rate (you can't do both at 1440P unless your using a GTX 1080Ti and even then that will only be some games not all). If you like to turn up the eye candy as high as you can and you game at 60-120hz then Ryzen is a better direction to go. This is coming from someone with 4 Intel builds in my house. 2 gaming PCs, 1 gaming laptop and one server....all running Intel chips. So I am not plugging for a vendor just trying to give good advice for a build that will last a long time.
