Dear *,

i have a question regarding ddr3 memory clk.

I have a intel pentium G3260 that supports DDR3 1333MHz
https://ark.intel.com/products/87356/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3260-3M-Cache-3_30-GHz

and Asus H81M-E that supports ddr3 1600MHz od 1333MHz
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H81ME/specifications/

if i put a ddr3 1600MHz memory in the motherboard will this work ?
Patriot Signature 4 GB DDR3 1600MHz, PSD34G160081H

For some reason the 1600MHz ddr3 is cheaper than 1333MHz ddr3

Best Regards,

z

Solution
The DDR3-1600MHz RAM will still work/still run, but, it will naturally downclock to speeds of 1333MHz RAM as the G3260 only lets the RAM work on that speed. You can try XMP settings on your motherboard at 1600MHz but not a guarantee RAM will run at 1600MHz.
