Title. Managed to pick up a Z170-A board really cheap and just read how the 8th gen won't be compatible with the zX70 boards. Are there any rumors about the pricings or is anyone good at the pattern Intel has had with their previous release of new architecture? Would the extra two cores and threads impact gaming (and possibly video rendering) enough to outweigh the price of a new Z/X board and the brand new 8600k?

Thank you.

Solution
Not for the current games, I'd say. Usually, hardware are several years ahead software.
However, take care that a Kaby would not work with a Z170 without a BIOS update.

Thank you very much for your answer, and I am very aware of the bios update needed. I've read some posts about the board supporting bios flashback in the manual but not having the actual card itself on the board... Some even claim that the later created ones even had the Kaby Lake BIOS on them, but I got easy access to a Sky Lake processor if needed.
