I built a gaming PC but it only had 4gb of ram. I bought two 4gb sticks and the monitor said no signal, so I bought one 8gb stick of ram and had the same problem.

The 4gb sticks are both EM08 IBM PC3-8500 DDR3 ECC Memory Kit 78PO554.

The 8gb stick is an HP 500662-B21 8GB DDR3 SDRAM Server Memory.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the BIOS. These are my specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860k

Motherboard: MSI A68HM-E33 V2

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 1050

PSU: EVGA 400 Watt

I've already tried cleaning the ram and reseating them and it still shows no signal. Any help is appreciated.

Solution
First off, that motherboard uses dual channel memory. So you need a matched set of DDR3 memory for best result. I would try re-seating the memory sticks. Make sure they are firmly seated. It is possible that the memory is bad as well.

Also many motherboards specify non-ECC memory. I would check your motherboard manual. The memory isn't listed as compatible on the MSI website, but it doesn't say anything about being compatible with ECC memory either.
