RAM XMP profile causing system to not boot until full reset

Hi,

I bought a new set of RAM for my system
http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-dram-3000mhz-c15-memory-kit-white-cmk16gx4m2b3000c15w

On first boot, it was fine and I enabled the XMP profile. Subsequently whenever I try to boot up, the CPU fan starts up but everything else doesn't start up. I found a solution on the internet which is to unplug everything, hold down the power button to discharge the system and then it will boot up properly.

The problem returns every shutdown until I disabled the XMP profile. Then I can shutdown/startup properly. I can only conclude the OC on the RAM is causing some issues. I was previously using a 2400MHz version.

Can I manually change the settings of this set of new RAM to 2400MHz and leave all other settings at auto, and let the system work it out?? Or can I tweak the profile to the following and hope it will work?

Latency: 15-15-15-36
Voltage: 1.2V
Speed: 2400MHz (My previously working speed)

Would this have a hope of solving the issue? I have a suspicion the voltage is causing the issue.

Thank you very much for any help/advice

Got the latest BIOS? Looks like there's one from a few days ago.

I'm still running off the March update. I'll probably give the latest BIOS a go. But if that doesn't work, will there be any potential issue if I try the above settins or just leave everything on Auto and force the clock to 2400MHz?

Try the latest BIOS. If XMP still doesn't work try manually configuring the settings. 3000, 15-17-17-35 and 1.35v. If all that doesn't work I'd run memtest on the sticks overnight to see if you might have a bad stick. Z270 shouldn't have any problems with that RAM.

I updated the BIOS, tested everything on stock and everything worked normally again. I then activated the XMP profile, did a shutdown and boot, no issues. Finally I used ASUS EZTune to get the CPU OC back up to 4.1GHz and tested again, and all seems fine for now. I noticed that the wizard did set my BCLK to 103 with a 41 multiplier this time. But 103x41 should be 4223Hz not 4.1GHz, is this normal??

So far everything seems to be ok. If I want to push the CPU OC up to 4.2GHz with this set of RAM by adjusting the multiplier to 42. Is there anything I should look out for?

Thanks!!

I wouldn't use a utility to overclock. Usually they will set the voltage higher than necessary. Just do it in BIOS with the multiplier. You mostly want to leave the BCLK settings alone and at 100. Plenty of reviews for that board with listed overclock settings. Start there and adjust as necessary.
