Installed New PSU, now PC boots for 20 seconds before turning off

There has been a strong burning smell coming from my PC, which I am "pretty sure" was the PSU. I have bought and installed a new PSU. However, the pc now boots for 20 seconds, with nothing coming up on the monitor and then turns off. The fans all come on, however the GPU fan spins for a few seconds before stopping, however I'm pretty sure it did that before. Seeing as the PC booted up fine before the PSU change, it seems likely that the problem is just with how I have installed the new one.

I haven't done this before but everything is plugged in. The CPU, GPU, Motherboard, my SSD and HDD. The only cable I'm missing is a connection between the small SATA cable in the CD drive, but I that shouldn't affect boot up should it? I haven't plugged it in because I'm already using the two SATA ports on my x99SLi plus motherboard.

The only other details I can think of mnentioning are that the green RESET light on the motherboard turns off when the pc turns itself off. There is also a white light at the back of the case at the top that turns off.

I have checked all the connections and am sure they are all tightly connected. I have attached photos of the connections in the hope that someone will spot something I have done incorrectly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me crazy

UPDATE: I have tried putting the old PSU back in, and it is now doing the same. It will boot for 20 seconds and then turn off. Have I busted another of the components while I was fiddling with it?

Solution
Try this:

- Unplug your GPU and take it out after unplugging the PSU;
- Unplug all your hard drives (all SSD's and HDD's except the one that holds the Operating System);
- Unplug CPU cooler fan;
- Plug the PSU, and power your PC including only the motherboard with one stick of RAM and one HDD/SSD (that holds OS).

If the issue still persists, I dare to say, change your SATA cables (they are the first thing that fries alongside the PSU).
Have you changed the PSU cable (you know, the one that delivers electricity to your PSU)? If your PSU is burnt, it is likely that most of the cables in your PC are burnt as well.

Also, you didn't mention your PSU specs. That would help.

Yeah I am using the cable that came with the new PSU. Also, I have just changed the PSU back to the old one. And the same problem is now occurring. It boots for 20 seconds then turns off. Have I fried another component when tying to install the new PSU???

Also, My old PSU is the Corsair GS 700 and the new one is the Corsair RM750i
