Hi guys,
Basically I haven't really been following all the latest news and releases, so I have no idea how to upgrade my PC and what to upgrade it with. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Approximate Purchase Date: A couple of months

Budget Range: £500-£600

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, watching films/TV.

Are you buying a monitor: No- looking to upgrade to a 144hz monitor by possibly end of the year though

Parts to Upgrade: GPU, MoBo and possibly a CPU upgrade depends on general opinon. My PSU is a Corsair CM600M.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any as long as it is UK based.

Location: UK

Parts Preferences:

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: no

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: Looking to see what you guys think is the best way for me to upgrade based on my current specs and the type of things I'll be doing. I have just bought a flight stick so i'm gonna be playing a lot of flight sims. I also like playing new games. Thats where this rig is lacking. I personally think my GPU needs an upgrade, but I'm not sure. That's why i'm here.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: To be able to play newer or more intensive games at max settings in 60 fps. Would be nice to be able to run my modded Skyrim higher than 40fps.

Current Specs:
Intel i5-4590 3.3ghz
8 GB of Hyper X Fury DDR3
MSI GTX 960 2gb
gigabyte Z97X-SLI MoBo
Corsair CM600M PSU

If you need any more info just ask.

Just get ryzen for now if you are in budget, intel have slightly better performance, but kinda more expensive, but however intel better at overclocking capability, but considering the price of processor and mobo, it is so expensive compared to ryzen

the processor is fairly pretty strong, but at some games that is really cpu intensive it might kinda struggle. you can probably upgrade to like gtx 1060, but for sure no guarantee it will run games at 60 fps. but if you want to do processor and gpu upgrades, i recommend getting the ryzen 5 1400 paired with b350 mobo, some overclocking would be a nice touch to increase the performance, not sure about the cost, but i think it might kinda off budget

The reason I have a Z series board is because i'm an idiot haha. I didn't realise when i bought it. I really need a upgrade on the MoBo though because the usb ports are acting strange. Detects some usb devices but others, mainly storage devices, don't work. I'm not set on a CPU upgrade, it was only if needed, but if you think it is still fairly strong I can just put the money towards a 1070 or something. Is the ryzen 5 1400 fairly new, I see it recommended on facebook all the time?

the i5-4590 is a bit bottlenecking with the 1070, here is the bottleneck processor list if paired with 1070, got it from someone in another toms hardware forum https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EQOWVLxk0DOFXKfzCmz9lEZ-qpMb7mIvt8KUYek69A8/edit#gid=0 . the ryzen 5 1400 is a really good budget processor tho for now, because the price is relatively cheap and the performance is somewhere like i7, but slightly lower especially in terms of overclocking, it doesnt do as good as the mainstream intel i7 like the 6700k & 7700k. but if you want the one that is pretty much like i5, get the ryzen 3 1200, no need for the 1300x, you can just overclock it, but i dont know if it bottleneck or not, here to see info about the r3 1200 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFRXzR8D8kw

Thanks for that link to the speadsheet, very helpful. Would the Ryzen 5 1400 bottleneck a 1070? Also if I could save another month to add a little bit more cash, would you recommend just going intel? I've always used intel and its not that I wouldn't try AMD, I guess they just have this reputation for bad drivers and such. It's probably not so bad now otherwise it wouldn't be recommend quite a lot.
