Hi all,

Now this isnt really an issue but I was just wondering what you guys think. Recently upgraded my machine and since the upgrade when I press the on button, it will all come on with fans spinning and lights on etc but wont do anything really for 10 secs, after 10 secs the speaker will beep and the bios prompt will come on and then it will boot to windows, any thoughts on why there is this delay, the mobo does have a Q reader and it does display a whole assortment of numbers during this 10 secs, maybe its just checking everything is good before it boots ?

Solution
Look carefully at your bios options.

Is the default to do a memory test? You do not need that.

Are there adapters that you do not use? It takes time to initialize them.

Is the first boot device a dvd or usb that you do not normally use?
It takes time to discover that there is no device there.

Is the ram setting correct? If not, it takes time for the bios to correct to a setting it can use.

Well look at that :D you ask a question and answer it at the same time :D

You are correct. Mine computer does the same.
You can ofc take a look in bios and find "Boot up time delay" and change it. Since that is an option to slow down the POST, so that people can get into bios if the monitor is slow or something.

Edit: And we have the same cpu, mobo and memory.

So before your screen shows Asus and the F2 for bios prompt it will take like 10 seconds im correct in saying ?, and wow, small world ay :). I only ask because my previous set up (4790k and VII Hero) didnt take as long, although my new set up loads up windows instantly compared to my old build
