I'm in dire need of a CPU upgrade. I'm currently using a AMD A6 7400k. A dual core which i am increasingly aware is not cut out for modern games. My question is, do i upgrade to an AMD athlon X4 845? Which fits the same socket as my current cpu, and fits in my current budget. Or do i save my money a little longer and spring for a new motherboard and an amd FX8350? The likelehood is that if i replace my Mobo, i will also replace my case as my front panel connectors are broken, leading to an even higher cost of the upgrade. All help and advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Solution
actually with my old intel motherboard
I buy 2 different used cpu between 2006 and 2014 without encounter any issues
I think I spend $19.99 the first one then $39.99 the second one
both were good cpu upgrade..!!
yes is risky all depend from who you buy it.!
there is nothing wrong to get used stuff as long are in good conditions
but that is just my personal opinion ..!!!
