R9 270X bottleneck Athlon x4 860k

Hello,

I have recently purchased a r9 270x 4gb. I researched whether there would be a bottleneck with my x4 860k and multiple people were saying that there would not be. However I can see in some games that my CPU is at 100% while my GPU is at 30-40%. Is this normal and if so what CPU should I upgrade to?

That means your GPU is not running at it max potential. So yea, your CPU is a bottleneck.
Maybe you can try to give it a overclock?
And in what games you get that problem?

You'll have to upgrade the whole platform (CPU + mobo + RAM) to remove the CPU bottleneck. Ryzen 3 CPUs are pretty decent if you're on a budget.

PCMACPC :

I have been experiencing the bottleneck on Just Cause 3, GTA V and Watch Dogs 2, however I haven't tested any other games so I could be experiencing it on more games. I bought the graphics card used so could it be faulty?

If your GPU is running the games, it should be perfectly fine.

You can try to give your CPU an overclock, but be careful, you can break your components!
